National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week
Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Week is a nationwide effort to spread awareness of issues related to homelessness and hunger.The Mclennan County hunger Coalition partners with various local non profits to spread awareness of hunger and homelessness throughout the week of November 13th through the 19th. This years events included a letter writing campaign at World Cup Cafe & Common Grounds Cafe, a Salvation Army sponsored an event titled A Night Without Home where people could experience what it was like to be homeless. There was a dinner& movie showing at the Jubilee theater and an open mic night at Beatnix. The week ended with the Food For Families Food Drive and a visit from a mobile food pantry.
