“Lunch for Friends” Fundraiser to Support Waco Charter School and

McLennan County Hunger Coalition

October 16, 2015, is World Food Day, a day which encourages awareness that many of our neighbors do not have ready access to food. In McLennan County, 43,120 residents are food insecure. This amounts to 19% of our community.

Join us this October 16th as the McLennan County Hunger Coalition and Waco McLennan County Public Health District sponsor Lunch for Friends to help address hunger within our community.

Funds raised by Lunch for Friends will support Waco Charter School’s plans to establish a weekend feeding program for their students, the majority of whom come from low-income families.  The event will also support the McLennan County Hunger Coalition, which strives to increase community awareness of the problems of hunger.

Sponsors of the event include United Healthcare, Superior Health Plan, Waco-McLennan County Public Health District, Economic Opportunities Advancement Corporation, and KWTX-TV.

For your donation of $15 or more, you will receive lunch provided by Papa Bear’s Restaurant and which will be served at Waco Charter School (615 N. 25th Street.) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 16th

Not able to attend? A drive-through line at Waco Charter School to pick up this meal will be available during those times.

The deadline for lunch donation is October 1. However, you may still contribute to Lunch for Friends until October 31.  A limited number of same-day purchases of lunch will be available at the event.

Donations for Lunch for Friends may be mailed to the McLennan County Hunger Coalition at 300 S. 15th St., Waco, TX 76701.  Contributions can also be made through our secure PayPal link at the top of this page.
